Girls dropping out of school

I was born and brought up in Kinangop, a village in the interior part of Central Kenya, Africa. Here, pangs of poverty were visible and real. I was enrolled in a local primary school where I witnessed the torment of young girls during their monthly periods. Majority of them could not afford sanitary pads and in fact it was known to most of them. There were better things to think about; food, shelter, clothing and clothing. Education was a privilege for the girls because After all, they would get married early stages.

I witnessed most of them mess their dresses and it was dehumanizing, mental torture and extreme embarrassment to innocent girls. Most often missed school during this time of their month. This meant, they missed classes which eventually affected their school performance. Some would even miss more than two weeks in a month and by the end of the year, they had missed so many days. Poor school results were the eventualities.

Empty Class

It is important to note that most girls used very unhygienic methods instead of sanitary pads. This entailed; leaves, clothes, and even soil.

This was not a preserve for our school only but to many in my country and Africa. The most unfortunate reality is, millions of girls still face the same ordeal to this date. Research shows that ********* drop out of school due.One day as a young man, we carried a neighbor in labor on a bicycle to hospital, approximately 25 kilometers away. She was in absolute pain and moaned all the way. It made me fear marriage. Fortunately, she delivered safely and a health bouncing baby boy
